Just got the D23 Expo ‘Special Look’ footage for ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ (2019) uploaded. Some have asked for 4K, but 1080p is the highest quality I have access to. I really like this as it does a nice job of tying the old and new together. The part that most people will be concerned with is the photo above. It is probably a vision of the future, like when Luke chopped off Vader’s head in the cave in The Empire Strikes Back (1980). However, perhaps she isn’t evil but just really likes the look of a red light sabre. Who knows? I guess we will have to wait and see. And we don’t have long to wait now, it is less than 4 months until release date.

You can get the D23 Special Look (which really is a trailer) at the link below, and if you want to check out the first trailer (and trailers from other Star Wars films), go here: Star Wars Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

  1. No offense but I don’t understand why you’re bothering with up-mixes. Is this a new trend on this site? Just give people the raw stereo track and let the receiver do the lifting… Especially if a genuine 5.1 ever comes to fruition. You’re putting out fake mixes when genuine ones are available

    1. Hi Craig,
Well, I feel that the 5.1 upmix actually sounds better than a stereo mix. It is not my first choice, as a true 5.1 mix is the best option. But in this case, I used the DTS:Neural 2.0 to 5.1 upmixer to provide a 5.1 mix. I uploaded a version with the official stereo track, which you can get at the link below to compare. D23 Special Look – PCM Stereo

      1. I have the stereo mix already. Tbh, the original mix will always trump whatever upmixing a program can do. It should be the primary mix offered and notated in the file name. And you certainly shouldn’t waste bandwidth on two different 5.1 mixes, both of which are faked.

I absolutely love this site and love what you’re doing but there’s enough misinformation out there on the internet. We don’t need to create fake mixes and have them shared as legit…as others will undoubtedly do.

      2. There’s a dialogue track included in this master, no? I understand that true 5.1 may not always be available, but I think using the provided dialogue track for the center channel might have helped enhance this mix (correct me if I’m wrong and that track isn’t actually included).

          1. Oh, I see. That’s a shame. I haven’t received the master yet, I only saw a screenshot of the opening slate, which includes a label for a dialogue track. But I guess as with many things lately, they stripped that one before publishing.
