I am updating the site with three trailers at once, first up is Disney/Pixar’s Cars 3, starring Owen Wilson and Lightning McQueen. The animation is “grittier” and more realistic looking. If you have small children, it will cost you a lot of money in branded merchandise! You can get the trailer at the Cars 3
Up next is Life, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson. Life tells the story of a crew on the International Space Station who discover life on Mars. It looks like things go downhill from there. This trailer has an extra AAC track that I was experimenting with. I have no plans to use AAC going forward. Trailer 1 is at the Life page.
Finally, we finish with Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey. This will be in theaters for valentines day, so if your significant other wants to go, you should take her (or him). And this trailer can also be used to convince that said other half to invest in better home theater equipment. Never waste an opportunity to make everyone happy! Trailer 1 can be found at the Fifty Shades Darker page.
Thank you all for taking the time to answer the survey, and if you have not done so please take a moment to do so.
Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the USA.
I have been asked quite a few times recently about different encoding options. Some people can not playback FLAC, and would like to have PCM, while others want DTS-HD Master Audio. Some want .mp4 with 720p to save on downloading, while some want higher bit-rates. I just do not have the time to make multiple versions of every trailer and I would like to have a standard that works well for everyone, and which will shorten the time it takes me to upload the content.
DTS-HD Master Audio is cost prohibitive. The DTS Master Audio Encoding Suite has a list price of $1500 US. While I would love to encode in DTS-HD Master Audio, I just do not have $1500 to spend on the encoder. If you know how to do Master Audio Encoding for much less, I would love to hear from you.
When I started out, the plan was to have .mp4 files with Dolby 5.1 at 640 kbps. That is all I planned to do, but eventually I started to work with PCM and later FLAC as an alternative to lossy Dolby Digital. At this point, I can work with four audio options: Dolby AC3 5.1 at 640 kbps, lossless PCM, lossless FLAC, and DTS 5.1 at 1536 kbps – which is the “core” of the HD Master Audio track.
Thank you for your feedback!
I just uploaded trailer 3 for Kong: Skull Island, which you can find at the Kong: Skull Island page.
Today I have the IMAX Featurette for Transformers: The Last Knight, which is due for release next June. What makes this one special, is that it is shot with new IMAX 3D cameras, in select scenes. The IMAX video in the featurette looks really clear and if you can, it should be viewed using the .mkv file as the bitrate is higher than the .mp4 file. You can get the featurette at the Transformers: The Last Knight page. It also looks like a trailer will be released soon, according to Twitter.
The Final Trailer for Kong: Skull Island has been released on YouTube, but I do not have it yet. I am surprised that Warner has not pushed it to press outlets yet. Once I get it I will have it up at the Kong: Skull Island page.
A few updates today. First, Trailer 2 for the live action Beauty and the Beast has been added to the Beauty and the Beast page. The movie is set for release on March 17, 2017 and stars Emma Watson as Belle and Luke Evans as Gaston. Gaston was always my favorite.
Second, I added new IMAX trailers to the IMAX Pre-Show Trailers Page. The added trailers are the countdowns to Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation and Suicide Squad. The mkv files have the original DTS 5.0 tracks, along with an AC3 with an added LFE.
I just added Trailer 1 for Ghost in the Shell, starring Scarlett Johansson. Ghost in the Shell is due in Theaters on March 31, 2017. Go to the Ghost in the Shell page for the trailer.
What looks to be a very unique take on the horror genre, is Get Out, written and directed by Jordan Peele (Keanu 2016). You can get trailer 1 at the Get Out (2017) page.
The first trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) is now available. I have high hopes for this film as I am generally a fan of Luc Besson’s work. It certainly has a similar feel to ‘The Fifth Element’ which I think is a good thing. I put together an experimental mix for this one, as the master was only 2 channels. You can find it at the Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) page.
Good news for those who have been patiently waiting to get the IMAX Sonic Anthem trailer, because there are two versions now available. “Prepare to Believe” has the original 5.0 channel DTS audio track. For “Prepare to Celebrate” I added a LFE track which will get your neighbours attention. This version also has the DLP Cinema logo at the end. You can find these at the IMAX Pre-Show Trailers Page.
