This one did not go exactly as planned, as I only received mono music and effects tracks. There is not much I can do with those, so I am going with the stereo mix. The first trailer is now up at the Tomb Raider (2018) page.

Why all trailers are coming only in Stereo ?? What happend with the multichannel ??
For some reason, Warner did not provide stereo music and effects tracks, which I use to do a 5.1 mix. I am hoping that this is just a rare occurrence. The same thing happened with the first trailer for Justice League and I tried my best with the mono stems, but it was not the same. The next one had the normal source material. So, I think that for Warner we should be back to normal with their next trailer. Fox and Lionsgate have never provided anything other than stereo. I have not posted may of those trailers, and some I did an upmix for. Some liked the upmix, some do not. Universal was providing stereo music and effects, but they recently switched to stereo only. I spoke with their vice president of marketing, and was told they would be stereo only. What is crazy to me is that the 5.1 mix can easily be included in the assets. For the first trailer of The Mummy, Universal included the 5.1 mix, but everything since was stereo only. Disney, including Marvel and Lucasfilm release proper 5.1 mixes of their trailers. They are leading the way. The next best would be Sony, Paramount and Warner Bros.
The trailer’s audio mix sucked from the official sources lol. Very lackluster trailer. Could have had some good LFE hits. Makes me scared for the official mix upon release to theaters.
Hey John, how do you get the tracks from the distributors? I kinda want to dip my hands in this, and possibly help. I need the experience, I’m letting my Avid Pro Tools Cert collect dust right now.
