As previously mentioned, I was waiting to post the first trailer for Morbius (2020) until I got a better audio mix. Unfortunately, the only true 5.1 I could get was not English, but the big problem was that it was for a different cut of the trailer and was about 70 seconds shorter. Therefore, I went with a DTS:Neural Upmix and for those who do not like upmixes, the official stereo is also provided. Download links are below. Judging by the Spider-Man graffiti in the alley shot it appears that Morbius takes place after Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).

As promised, here is Trailer F5 for the upcoming Harley Quinn film ‘Birds of Prey’ (2020). This is an unofficial mix, but it is very, very close to the official. Left, Right, LFE and surrounds are from an official non English mix, and have not been changed in any way. The Center channel was edited to remove the non English dialogue. This was then mixed with the English dialogue and any missing background music and effects. The result is near identical but in English. The video source was 25 fps PAL, which I converted to 24 fps to match the source audio. This preserves the audio pitch, which was a problem with the Tenet trailer which I plan to fix. Happy 2020! It is time to get back into the swing of things. First up is the Black Widow (2020) Featurette, which doesn’t seem to have any spoilers, which is always a good thing. The featurette was only released in 1080p and stereo and you can get a mkv with PCM and AC3 stereo, or a mp4 with just AC3 stereo below. I plan to also upload the 4K Black Widow trailer either later tonight, or early tomorrow. I am also working on Morbius (2020), but I want to wait until I get a better sound mix before I post it, and I hope it will be available before the weekend. I also plan to upload the second trailer for Birds of Prey (2020) very soon as well. Stay tuned, there is more to come!

The second trailer for Top Gun: Maverick (2020) arrived a few days ago, and I am really happy to have it available for you to enjoy. And it is a fantastic trailer, especially the versions with the IMAX 1.89 aspect ratio. Not only is it IMAX, it is 4K as well (4096×2160). You may notice that this is labeled as an “Unofficial Mix” and that is because the audio was sourced from the IMAX version, which officially only has a 5.0 track (no LFE). This is unofficial because I added a LFE track. I encoded a 2K version as well preserving the aspect ratio for those whose system would benefit from it. There is also the 1920×1080 widescreen versions as well.
I know I mentioned that there would be a 4K Black Widow trailer coming soon. I am working on it, but I have run out of time and will be hitting the road for the holidays. A few months ago, I uploaded the first trailer for Tenet, and 6 days later received a notification from Warner Bros. that I was unauthorized to use the materials and was infringing upon their intellectual property rights. At that time, the teaser was only available in theatres and was not released online. This time, Trailer 2 has been released online so I don’t expect any harsh notifications from the studio.
I know that in my facebook post I said I would have this up on Friday, and I almost did. When I finished the 1080p trailers I received the 4K version. So instead of doing two posts I decided to just do one with everything included. There are a few different things with Tenet Trailer 2. The first is that the 1080p version has an aspect ratio of 2.19:1 (1920×876) which is a bit unusual. The 4K versions have a 2.40:1 aspect ratio (4096×1716).
The audio on the 1080p and 4K versions are different. Both are official 5.1 mixes, but the tracks looked to have their polarity (not phase) inverted. This happens sometimes and I do not know what the impact really is on the overall experience. The other difference is the levels are higher on the 4K. Both versions have distortion sounds in the second half of the trailer. This is the way it is supposed to be. Personally, I would not make the choice to deliberately distort audio but that is an artistic choice that I feel many would just assume to be a flaw.
All of the encodes have some banding that is particularly noticeable in one shot. There was very little I could do to eliminate it and it even appeared in the ProRes master. The 80Mbps version is the closest to the master.

I obtained an official foreign language 4K version of Wonder Woman 1984. Since it is a foreign language version, I had to switch the text elements for up-scaled English versions. The end result is 4096×1716, which is the theatrical DCI compliant image size. As I mentioned in my reply to a comment on the original WW84 post, this took many hours to decode, edit, encode, proof, fix, encode, proof, upload, etc. But I do it not for the few dollars received from advertising but because I want people who care about having the best video and audio quality to have it.
If you have been a follower of this site for a while you will know that I have had mixed results with H.265 HEVC. On Black Friday I took advantage of the discount on Adobe Creative Cloud and now have the Adobe Media Encoder which allows for encoding in H.265. So, I have encoded the 4K Wonder Woman 1984 trailer using the HEVC codec supplied with Adobe Media Encoder. I am able to play it back and it doesn’t freeze my system, so I take that as a good sign, however I would appreciate feedback on the quality or performance of the H.265 encode. The links are below:

2020 will see another kick at rebooting the Ghostbusters franchise with ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’. This time around there is a group of youngsters who discover a previously unknown connection to the original Ghostbusters of the 1980’s. Aside from cool tech, I think western civilization peaked in the 1980’s. Feel free to argue that point. For trailer 1 I did not have an official 5.1 mix, so I did put together a DTS:Neural upmix. I am also including the official stereo if that is your preference.

Confession: I have yet to watch Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. But I did see Wonder Woman (2017) and I liked it quite a lot. I was thinking about giving it another screening in my home theater just the other day. The highly anticipated sequel, Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) is due in June and the first trailer has been released. And like Free Guy, this one is the official studio 5.1 mix.
