I recently completed a 5.1 mix for Hobbs and Shaw, which can be found at the Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) page. I also added a 10 bit H265 encode.
A few people have been asking for the Super Bowl big game spots for Captain Marvel and Avengers. Unfortunately, I don’t have those.
Star Wars: Episode IX is probably the most anticipated movie of 2019, although it has a lot of competition from Avengers: Endgame (2019); thankfully they are spaced over half a year apart. There has been a lot of speculation over the past couple of weeks as to whether we will see a first glimpse of Episode IX during the Super Bowl, which will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 pm ET, and will be broadcast on CBS in the United States.
The rumors that I have seen suggest that Disney has purchased three 30 second spots for Episode IX, which together will comprise a complete teaser. While the trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) premiered at the Super Bowl last year, it served as a place to generate interest especially considering the huge amount of negative stories and attention that Solo was being bogged down with. And with the release of the teaser during the Super Bowl, it also served as a trailer announcement, as the first full trailer dropped the following day. Considering how well known the core Skywalker Saga is, and there is no bad press surrounding the production of Episode IX, I tend to think that Disney would be better off spending the money on other films. But I could be wrong.
When will we see the first full trailer?
The first trailer for Episode VIII – The Last Jedi was released during Celebration Orlando, on April 14, 2017. It specifically dropped on Friday afternoon just after it premiered at Celebration Orlando. Celebration Chicago takes place this year from April 11 to 15th. If they follow the same pattern, then it will likely drop on April 12, 2019 at around 2 PM Eastern. To me, that sounds like a good bet. But if it does show up next week, I’ll be ready.

After being delayed from the planned release in December, the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) is now available. Also, in case you missed it, there are 2D and 3D SBS versions of the international trailer for Alita: Battle Angel (2019) available too.

Let’s get 2019 off to a good start. Here is a 4K encode of Trailer 1 for The Lion King (2019). There just may be some 4K trailers for Captain Marvel on the way as well…
I went through the workflow process to determine what caused the banding issue present in the Avengers Endgame IMAX trailer that I uploaded on Dec 21. From that, I was able to eliminate a transcoding step and now have a version that is much closer to the master. The original source was JPEG2000. In the first attempt, the original was transcoded to ProRes. The ProRes was then transcoded to H264. Some editing was performed on the H264 encode and the final video was produced from that. This new version used the ProRes created from the JPEG2000 source, and only one transcode to H264 was performed. Now, there is still some banding, but it is comparable to the original 1080p widescreen version. I don’t think I can get it any better.
You can get the new 4K version, as well as 1080p .mkv and .mp4 versions here. I have also experimented with H265 – HVEC, but I am not happy with the results. I will keep working on that, but for the mean time, I will stick with H264 – AVC.
In other news, I will also be uploading both Captain Marvel IMAX trailers, however I am going away to visit family so those will not arrive until the new year. With that I wish you a very happy remainder of 2018; and I look forward to providing you with the best quality trailers in 2019!

I just added my custom 5.1 mix for Brightburn (2019) created from the Dialogue, Music and Effects tracks. This one was a lot of fun to do as there was a lot of different types of sounds, and not like a lot of trailers where there is constant loud music from start to end. I uploaded a new encode of Trailer 1 for Avengers: Endgame (2019). I received some feedback from a visitor to the site – Shu Ming Liu (your’re famous now!) who pointed out that the shot at 1 min 17 seconds (the aerial shot of the Avengers HQ) looked like crap. Well, those were not his words, but that is what it looked like. I am happy to say that it now looks much closer to the master. Thank you Shu Ming Liu for pointing it out. If the quality of that scene bothers you, then I suggest you download the re-encode. I will say, however, that there may be some trade offs in making that shot look better. My initial inspection didn’t pick up any issues. Any feedback between the two is appreciated, and will help me with decisions moving forward. My aim is to provide the best quality possible for those who appreciate more than YouTube can offer. Your feedback is helpful in ensuring that I deliver my intended quality.
Well, this Marvelous week continues, with the first trailer for the new Avengers movie! (Spoiler Warning!!) We know that some of our “dead” heroes come back from Thanos’ snap, seeing that Spider-Man: Far From Home is coming out later in 2019, but what role will Captain Marvel play? Interesting that she did not appear in the trailer, unless I missed her. Speaking of Spider-Man, the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) will arrive this weekend.
