Not the official poster, but it rocks…. (groan)
Head on over to the Baywatch (2017) page to get the first trailer for Paramount’s film adaptation of the classic Baywatch series, starring Dwayne Johnson. It looks like a fun summertime action flick, and is a welcome sight as we head into the dark winter months.
I will be updating the site for Trailers 1 and 2 of Spider-Man: Homecoming in a few moments, so stay tuned for that.
Is it just me, or does this guy seem like a real jerk? Anyway, I am sure it will end well. Trailer 3 for Fifty Shades Darker is now available at the Fifty Shades Darker page.
Some folks have had some issues with the DTS tracks I have recently added. I was able to help some people, and if you encounter issues with the DTS tracks I would like to hear from you.
The trailer for Spider Man: Homecoming has been released, but I do not yet have access to it. Perhaps they are taking the time to do a 5.1 mix. I will have it up as soon as I get it.
And the trailer for “The Fate of the Furious” will be released on Sunday as a live event. That is all I know, but I should have it soon after.
Trailer 1 for Transformers: The Last Knight has been added to the site. It looks fantastic with the 1920×1008 aspect ratio. I did the best that I could on this one as the music and effects tracks were combined in the master, and not individual tracks. It sounds good, but it could have been better had I had the proper materials to work with. Head over to the Transformers: The Last Knight page to check it out.
Well done Universal! They released the 15 second teaser for ‘The Mummy’ the other day with split dialogue, music and effects tracks, so I was expecting to see the same with the actual trailer. When I got it, it was labeled as ‘stereo’ and I was prepared to do an ‘experimental mix’. To my surprise, it actually contained the 5.1 tracks in addition to the regular stereo. I am hoping that this is the way Universal will be releasing their trailers going forward, like Disney has been doing.
Additionally, the trailer for The Mummy sounds absolutely fantastic – with a lot of directional effects. It is the best sounding trailer that I have heard in a while. So go to The Mummy page and check out this great trailer.

Let’s kick off the new week with Trailer 2 of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. You can get the latest trailer with PCM and DTS tracks at the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 page.
The first trailer for The Mummy is due today. I will keep my eyes open for it and have it up as soon as I can.
The first trailer to be available with the new specifications (see post below for details) is Trailer 1 for “Silence”, the Martin Scorsese directed film starring Adam Driver, Andrew Garfield, and Liam Neeson. You can get trailer 1 at the Silence (2017) page.
The votes are in, and there is a clear preference for .mkv with DTS audio. There is also an interest in the .mp4 files, as well as PCM for lossless audio. Based upon these results, I plan to offer files in the following formats:

I am updating the site with three trailers at once, first up is Disney/Pixar’s Cars 3, starring Owen Wilson and Lightning McQueen. The animation is “grittier” and more realistic looking. If you have small children, it will cost you a lot of money in branded merchandise! You can get the trailer at the Cars 3

Up next is Life, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson. Life tells the story of a crew on the International Space Station who discover life on Mars. It looks like things go downhill from there. This trailer has an extra AAC track that I was experimenting with. I have no plans to use AAC going forward. Trailer 1 is at the Life page.
Finally, we finish with Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey. This will be in theaters for valentines day, so if your significant other wants to go, you should take her (or him). And this trailer can also be used to convince that said other half to invest in better home theater equipment. Never waste an opportunity to make everyone happy! I have been asked quite a few times recently about different encoding options. Some people can not playback FLAC, and would like to have PCM, while others want DTS-HD Master Audio. Some want .mp4 with 720p to save on downloading, while some want higher bit-rates. I just do not have the time to make multiple versions of every trailer and I would like to have a standard that works well for everyone, and which will shorten the time it takes me to upload the content.
DTS-HD Master Audio is cost prohibitive. The DTS Master Audio Encoding Suite has a list price of $1500 US. While I would love to encode in DTS-HD Master Audio, I just do not have $1500 to spend on the encoder. If you know how to do Master Audio Encoding for much less, I would love to hear from you.
When I started out, the plan was to have .mp4 files with 5.1 at 640 kbps. That is all I planned to do, but eventually I started to work with PCM and later FLAC as an alternative to lossy formats. At this point, I can work with four audio options: AC3 5.1 at 640 kbps, lossless PCM, lossless FLAC, and DTS 5.1 at 1536 kbps – which is the “core” of the HD Master Audio track.
