I added TV Spot #2, unfortunately the source is the You Tube encode, so the video bit rate is low, and the audio is 2 channel AAC 126 Kbps; but there are new scenes in it! I will replace it with a better quality version when/if I get it.
I hope to get some more trailers this week, including The Huntsman. No material has been released to press outlets as of yet.
Seeing that there is no 5.1 audio track available for the new TV spot, I thought I would provide something special in the way of video quality. I uploaded two versions of the TV spot. There is a .mp4 that has the standard H264 encoding – the same as all other .mp4 files on the site, only the bit rate is about 3x more than usual. The .mkv contains the TV Spot encoded in Apple ProRes 422 – Master Quality, and PCM audio. This file will not playback using Plex, but it will playback in a variety of other players, including VLC, MPC-HC, and GOM Player. These can be found at The Force Awakens page.
I just did a re-encode of the 3D SBS Trailer 3. The new encode is half side-by-side 1920 x 804 and should playback nicely for those who had problems with the full 3840 x 1080 version. It took me a while to figure out how to get the file resized correctly. In the end, I used handbrake to set the out put to be 1920 x 1080 anamorphic = none. That almost worked, but it was too stretched vertically. So I went with 1920 x 804 which matches the resolution of the 2D trailer. I then used MKVToolNix to remux the video with the audio from the Full SBS. I hope that does the trick. It is listed on The Force Awakens page as “Trailer 3 3D HALF SBS 1920×804”
If you do not have the Original Trilogy on Blu-ray the new steel book editions are now available, and for a pretty good price.
Trailer 2 for The Finest Hours has been released today. You can download it as a PS3 compatible .mp4 with AC3 5.1 audio, or with a higher bit-rate .mkv file with a lossless PCM audio track.
I have at least 2 more trailers to post this week – The Boy and Triple 9.
I just checked the theatrical trailer release list for Friday, and it lists: “Star Wars: The Force Awakens TLR 3 3D”. So I would expect that I will have a 3D .iso version by this time next week.
We now have our first look at another of the big films scheduled for next summer. Disney/Pixar’s Finding Dory, the sequel to 2003’s Finding Nemo (has it really been 12 years?) is scheduled for release in June 2016. Trailer 1 is available as an mp4 or mkv with AC3 5.1 on the mp4 and PCM 5.1 on the mkv.
I expect that we will also have a 3D version of this trailer, but perhaps not until the theatrical release of The Good Dinosaur on November 25th.
Teaser 1 for London Has Fallen is now available with Dolby AC3 5.1 and PCM 5.1 audio tracks. I have to admit, this looks quite good – and for some reason I did not see Olympus Has Fallen – I do not know why!
A quick note on the audio. This trailer has a tremendous amount of BASS. If you have your bass cranked up, you may want to adjust accordingly.
I just posted my review of Terminator: Genisys. You can read it here.

Your thoughts betray you, father. I feel the good in you…the
conflict.
VADER There is no conflict.
Well, I feel conflicted at the moment. I think that the Japanese International version of The Force Awakens trailer is really cool, but the best that we have is a low bit rate – 126 kbps, 2 channel audio version that is intended for internet streaming. I made this site because I was tired of such things and I felt that there should be a better way of presenting trailers. On one hand, the Japanese trailer is really cool – perhaps better than the domestic version. But on the other, the quality is truly lacking.
So, what should I do with this trailer? Several have asked if I will be getting it. I did have a version labeled as “International” which is identical to the domestic, except for the different date at the end. That has provided some confusion, to which I feel bad about. That was an international version, but for the UK, not Japan. I tried to “enhance” the 2 channel audio but there is only so much that can be done from a 2 channel source. I certainly could not create anything that sounded better than a Pro-Logic II processor could provide on the fly. So this is my conflict. Do I provide what I feel is sub-standard, or should I just pass on this trailer – saying that it currently does not match the standard of quality that I intend to promote. Does providing this trailer enhance or degrade the site?
This is what I will do. Recognizing that I did have a trailer listed as “international” (it is now “alt”), that there are those who would likely be interested in downloading the trailer instead of streaming it, and since it contains some really cool shots from the film, I am going to add it. I really wish I could provide a better option. It can be downloaded from The Force Awakens page.
