3D Side by Side (SBS) and other news

3D VideoI have converted the .iso files to 3D SBS .mkv files. Goosebumps is still encoding so it will be uploaded later today when I get home from my day job. The completed ones are Angry BirdsThe Finest Hours, The Martian and Teasers 1 and 2 of The Force Awakens.

I will also have 2D files for The Revenant with PCM and AC3 5.1 available later today. The next film to add to the site will be Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I normally hate zombie films – but this one looks quite different. Coming later in the week will be Trailer 2 of Daddy’s Home. I am going to be completing some research and compiling a 4K buying guide to help those who may be thinking about getting a new 4K set this before year end. I will also be reviewing Terminator Genysis and adding other trailers as they are available.

Finally, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who visited and interacted here over the last week. I have received a lot of positive feedback, which is just wonderful to receive. And some critical feedback as well, which has helped me to make improvements to the site. I also saw a lot of people who were quick to help others with technical problems. It was a very rewarding week. Thank you.

Apple Encode of The Force Awakens Trailer 3 with PCM 5.1 Audio

The Force Awakens Trailer 3
The Force Awakens Trailer 3

For those who prefer the Apple encode of trailer 3 for the video, but my encode for the audio, I have remuxed the Apple encode with the 5.1 PCM audio track. This one has the MPAA rating card and the “tickets now available” tag at the end. The files can be found at The Force Awakens page.

The 3D Side by Side conversion is still on my to-do list. I have not forgotten.

Update: The International Trailer with “December 17” instead of “December 18” at the end has been added. I am not sure if this mix is a theatrical version from Europe, but it is louder than previous files. I will let you decide on which you prefer.

Updates Part II

The Force Awakens One Sheet
The Force Awakens One Sheet

Good news and bad news. The good news is that I have uploaded the trailers for The Force Awakens to mega.nz and provided the download links on The Force Awakens trailers page. There are now two download options for the Lossless and 3D iso files. This should solve the issue some have had with downloads disconnecting. That is the good news.  The bad news is that the other trailer file I received sounded exactly as the first, except the dialogue was in French. If there is an interest in the French version please let me know and I can upload it. The other bit of bad news is that I completely ran out of time to do the Side by Side 3D conversions of the first two trailers. I will have to leave that to tomorrow. My wife is going away for the weekend, and demands that I spend some time with her. She has been very patient this evening.

Updates

detailsI just received a new file for The Force Awakens Trailer 3. This one has 12 channels of which 2 are online stereo mixes, and 2 are broadcast stereo mixes. I will see if the dynamic range is different on this file for the 5.1 channels. It may since the first had all tracks as (Broadcast). This also appears to have originated from a different facility. I probably will not be able to do anything further with this for several hours.

To help with those who are having difficulty downloading the Star Wars trailers, I will be generating some additional download links to mega.nz for those files. I think there has just been too many people trying to access them at the same time. I am also going to do Side by Side conversions of the 3D .iso files since some have been asking for that.  To recap, we have a new source for The Force Awakens Trailer 3, I am going to provide alternate links to hopefully get better download performance, and upload additional 3D trailers in Side By Side format. Look for that over the next 12 hours or so!

The Force Awakens Trailer 3 DTS-HD MA 5.1

The Force Awakens Trailer 3
The Force Awakens Trailer 3

Star Wars week continues here at The Digital Theater. I just added a DTS-HD Master Audio encode of Trailer 3 to The Force Awakens trailers page. A special thanks to Rodrigo Faria, who was kind enough to do the DTS-HD MA encode.

Star Wars – The Force Awakens Trailer 3 1080p PCM 5.1 and AC3 5.1

The Force Awakens One Sheet
The Force Awakens One Sheet

The wait is over! Enjoy the full trailer for Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens in full 5.1 audio – the way it was meant to be heard. I did say that it would be in DTS-HD MA, but it is not. It is in full uncompressed LPCM 5.1 which technically is better. If a DTS encode is available I will add it as well.

The mkv with LPCM 5.1 and the mp4 with Dolby 5.1 are now available at the Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens trailers page.

Also, it appears that this trailer will not be shown in theaters. It was not listed as new content for this week by technicolor, and the file was named “broadcast” trailer, so the debut on Monday night football may be it.

Don’t forget to get your tickets!

In case you are wondering – I am not just uploading a ready-made file. The files I get require a lot of manual processing before I can upload them to you, and it is never a straightforward process. Each file seems to have its own challenges. For this trailer, when I did the QA on the PCM version, about 30 seconds in the sound went out.  I had to trace it back to the first cut of the mkv I made, and then I had to re-mix the pcm audio, and re-do the transcode, re-do the cut transcode, and re-upload. I am one man doing this on my own, it took me two hours, and I did it all before I went to work this morning so that you could have access to it as soon as possible.

The Force Awakens Trailer 3 – Current Best Quality

The Force Awakens One Sheet
The Force Awakens One Sheet

I would not do this for any other trailer, but I have temporarily added the 2 channel audio version in the current highest bitrate available. We should have the 5.1 DTS-HD MA this time tomorrow, but until then we will go with this.

It is quite frustrating really.  Disney released pro-res versions of fan reactions to the screening of the trailer at Disney World, but not the trailer…

Check back (or like us on facebook) for the 5.1 version. The 2.0 version can be found at The Force Awakens trailers page.
