The second trailer for Oppenheimer (2023) is fantastic. This one was screened when I went to see Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) in IMAX. There is great use of the surrounds, especially with what I believe is the sound of a Geiger Counter, which actually are not as expensive as I thought they would be. I do not have a 2.2:1 aspect ratio version of this trailer but if I find one I will certainly add it to the Oppenheimer (2023) page.

I have a lot more to post, it just takes time to do them. And since I really only have some evenings where I have spare time it sometimes takes longer to get things done than I would like. In the case of this new trailer for Oppenheimer it took nearly four hours to do all the encodes, muxing audio, syncing, quality checking, uploading, adding to the page and writing a post. It takes a lot longer than most realize.

I am going to get started on the international version of Fast X Trailer 1 which will have the 5.1 audio track. If all goes well, it will be up tomorrow night.

Download Trailer 2 for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) is the upcoming third film in the “Ant-Man” franchise. The movie will see the return of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne/The Wasp, and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. Jonathan Majors plays the villain of the film – Kang the Conqueror, a powerful villain from the comics who has the ability to travel through time. Finally, Cassie Lang will be played by Kathryn Newton.

Looking ahead in time, we know that this film will lead us to “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” which is scheduled for May 2, 2025.

The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) page has been updated with Trailer 2. It is available as the IMAX version, in 4K and HD; and the regular version available in HD. There are 11 encodes with all the usual configurations.

Christopher Nolan’s latest film stars Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the head of the Los Alamos Laboratory during the development of the atomic bomb in the late days of WWII. In a world that is increasingly embracing streaming, Nolan is one of the most vocal advocates for experiencing films the best way possible: on a really big screen. Warner Bros. distributed Nolan’s films since Memento (2000), including his Batman Trilogy, Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk (2017) and Tenet (2020). But when Warner Bros. announced their plans to have same day releases for their 2021 slate of films in theaters and on HBO Max, Nolan was furious, and according to Vanity Fair called HBO Max the ‘worst streaming service’. So Nolan left Warner Bros. and went to Universal to distribute and bankroll this next project.

That project is Oppenheimer (2023), shot using IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format; and also the first film ever to use IMAX black and white film. In addition to the standard D-Cinema release, there will be some special engagements in 70mm, 35mm and IMAX film.

Trailer 1 is now up at the Oppenheimer (2023) page. There are 4K and HD versions, as well as two different aspect ratios. There is a 2.39:1 version in 1920×804 and 3840×1608 and a 2.20:1 version which is only available in 1920×874 resolution which offers an additional 70 horizontal lines of picture. According to the Technical Specs at IMDB, the 2.20:1 aspect ratio is the 70mm and D-Cinema presentation while 35mm engagements will be shown as 2.39:1. If you see it in Digital IMAX some scenes will be 1.90:1 but if you are fortunate to be at an IMAX film presentation some scenes will be in the full 1.43:1 IMAX aspect ratio. I am thinking that extra height will come in handy for a mushroom cloud.

Download 4K IMAX Trailer 1 for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1

Here is the 4K IMAX version of Trailer 1 for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023). Although this is the IMAX version, the aspect ratio is 2.40:1. I read today that John Williams will be officially retiring from composing film scores after the completion of this film. If you are a long time John Williams fan, like I am, that is sad news. I am still hoping that one day I will be able to see him give a live performance.

Not much is known about the Dial of Destiny at this point. It certainly looks like what you would expect from an Indiana Jones film. You can get the 4K or 1080p version of the trailer at the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) page.

Download 4K IMAX Trailer 1 for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)

I did say this would be available very soon, and here it is! The first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) is now available in glorious lossless 4K yuv444 10 bit video with the official 5.1 audio track. As I mentioned in the previous post, this trailer is entirely in the IMAX aspect ratio, not a mixed assortment of IMAX and 2.40:1 like many others. I have been looking forward to this film for quite a while as I have come to like this assortment of A-Holes. This trailer (in the last half) portrays a more emotional tone to previous installments, which is good. I just hope that it doesn’t end as dark as it is hinting it might.

You can get the IMAX trailer at the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) page. I did not do a 1080p encode of this trailer, as I think the 2160p version would be suitable for everyone. Moving forward, I am planning on not providing 1080p encodes when a 4K source is available. I will continue to provide a 4K AVC yuv420 8 bit MP4 in addition to the MKV files.
