Warcraft Trailer Drops on Friday

Warcraft Movie Poster

The first trailer for Warcraft (2016) drops on Friday. I have set up the Warcraft page, which obviously does not have the trailers yet. It does have a link to the 3158 × 5000 Warcraft One Sheet, which you can see to the Left.

I do expect to have this trailer with multi channel audio, but it likely will not be until after 7pm Eastern on Friday. And I can not guarantee that Universal will provide anything other than a stereo track. They usually provide more, so I am optimistic.  To be notified when the trailer is available on the site, complete with 5.1 audio, you can subscribe to the site, or follow us on Facebook

I have been working on my review of Terminator: Genisys and it is taking a lot longer than I expected. I hope to have that finished tomorrow if all goes well.

detailsI just received a new file for The Force Awakens Trailer 3. This one has 12 channels of which 2 are online stereo mixes, and 2 are broadcast stereo mixes. I will see if the dynamic range is different on this file for the 5.1 channels. It may since the first had all tracks as (Broadcast). This also appears to have originated from a different facility. I probably will not be able to do anything further with this for several hours.

To help with those who are having difficulty downloading the Star Wars trailers, I will be generating some additional download links to mega.nz for those files. I think there has just been too many people trying to access them at the same time. I am also going to do Side by Side conversions of the 3D .iso files since some have been asking for that.  To recap, we have a new source for The Force Awakens Trailer 3, I am going to provide alternate links to hopefully get better download performance, and upload additional 3D trailers in Side By Side format. Look for that over the next 12 hours or so!

The Force Awakens Trailer 3 Update

The Force Awakens

The Force Awakens

A few days ago, I mentioned that there was some rumours that the latest trailer for The Force Awakens will be released on Monday, October 19th.

These rumours appear to be true and the general thought is that it will appear on TV during Monday night football. I am not sure if that is the right target audience, but it is a wide audience. As far as timing goes, it looks like the next few days will go like this:

Today: Some theaters will begin ticket pre-sales for The Force Awakens.

Sunday: Disney will release the official one-sheet (poster).

Monday: Trailer 3 will be released around 8PM (EST).

So, the next question will be: when will we get it in 5.1 audio? I think that it will first be released in 2 channel stereo. The main distribution service we use only has 2 channel versions of the first two, so I don’t expect them to have a multi channel version available on Monday. But if history is a guide, it will only be a day or two until it is available. Rest assured, that we will have it as soon as possible. Along with the 3D version.

The Force Awakens Trailer 3 – Coming Monday?

The Force Awakens

The Force Awakens

In some interesting news, there are some rumours floating around the internet that the first and final trailer (the first two were technically teasers) for Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens will “drop” on Monday October 19th with Disney set to make an announcement on Sunday October 18th. I do not know if it is true or not, but that will be just two months from the theatrical release of the film in December – so the window seems right. We will be on the lookout for that.

If you have not done so, check out the Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens page where we have the first two trailers (teasers) in a variety of formats, including 3D!

And in even more speculation, some feel that the first real teaser for Independence Day: Resurgence will appear in theaters with The Force Awakens.  That seems like a good pairing, so we may only be two months away from the first look at what will be a contender for the big movie of 2016.

THX Eclipse Trailers (long and short) added 5.1 Dolby 1080p HD and site update

I uploaded two THX trailers – Eclipse Long, and Eclipse Short. Both feature the classic “Deep Note” with some rather hypnotizing visuals.

You can get them here or you can use the Audio Format Trailers menu at the top of the page.  I have more THX trailers that I will be uploading before too long.  To keep up to date, you can sign up for email alerts, or follow us on facebook at www.facebook.com/thedigitaltheater to get notified when trailers or features are added.

This site is still in its very early days, as of today (August 12, 2015) it is just 3 weeks old. So if you are just stopping by for the first time, and are surprised by the lack of content – well, that is the reason.  I have lots of things that I want to do, but it is taking me longer to get them completed than I had originally planned.

One aspect that I have started working on is 4K and the home theater of the future.  4K is very much like this site – in its early days – but there is going to be a lot of great content coming over the next year. I hope to put together some practical buying guides to help those who are interested in going 4K. Look for that soon.

I am also going to be reporting on the new object based sound formats Dolby Atmos and DTS:X so that you can make good buying decisions.

The other part of the site I want to develop is technical reviews of films and equipment. This will probably have to come last as it will take time to get the other site components together as well as taking the time to watch a film and then write a review about it.

One thing that I am not going to do, is to attempt to please everyone.  If I watch a trailer and I do not like it, I will not post it on this site. That is the great part of owning a corner of the internet, you can make it what you want it to be. I want this to be the part of the internet that has the good trailers. Quality over quantity.

So stay tuned, there is more to come.
