The second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) is here! As it was sourced from a theatrical digital cinema package, I have created a number of encodes to best represent the source. Not everyone will be able to playback all these versions, but if you can, the HEVC YUV 444 10 bit encode is the best. These all work on my installation of Media Player Classic – Home Cinema but do not on VLC. Your results may vary.

Disney and Pixar are returning to the big screen in 2022. In addition to Turning Red (2022) which is due in March, Lightyear hits cinemas in June. As always with Pixar, the image quality is stunning and I put together several encodes to provide the best representation possible. This was sourced from the ProRes 422 HQ master, which has been encoded to HEVC 422 and AVC 420. On the audio side there are also several options. First there is an unofficial English 5.1 mix, which was derived from an official French 5.1 mix and the official English stereo mix. I spent three hours on this and I am very confident that it is very close to the real thing. I didn’t do a great job on Spider-Man, despite my best efforts. Fortunately, I did get some feedback which I took constructively even if it wasn’t quite intended to be so. Since then I have been raising the bar and I hope the efforts show.

I have included the official French and the official stereo English mixes on the .mkv files. So if you want the French track, or if you want to compare against my English mix, or if you prefer an official English mix even if it is only stereo – you now have it. There is no 4K version yet. If I get it, I will post it.

Still set for release on Match 4, 2022 ‘The Batman’ stars Robert Pattinson as Batman who takes on the Riddler and corruption in Gotham City. I have been working on these encodes for a few days and I am pleased to be able to post them for your enjoyment. As the title says, this is the IMAX version, however it is not in an IMAX aspect ratio but 2.40:1 widescreen. Checking the technical specs at IMDB, it lists the aspect ratio as 2.39:1 and there is no indication of the use of IMAX cameras or lenses. That suggests there are no scenes in IMAX 1.90:1. So what makes this the IMAX version? Well, at the end it has the “Experience in IMAX” tag!

This is a dark and gritty trailer with a lot of shadows. There are several encodes, of varying qualities from 4K UHD 10 bit with 444 chroma subsampling to HD 8 bit. The default audio is an unofficial 5.1 mix derived from an official IMAX non English track. The centre was created from the official English stereo master and I also added an LFE as the IMAX track was 5.0 and not 5.1.
