I was going to put another picture of Jason Statham at the top of this post, but then I thought I have been posting pics of a lot of dudes lately – so let’s mix it up. Yes, the first trailer for The Expendables 4 (2023) has been released, and is now available for download. Breaking a bit from the original formula, this one introduces some “new blood”, which is probably a good idea if you want this franchise to continue on. I don’t have a 4K version but the 1080p looks quite nice – especially those 10 bit encodes.
A lot of you have been asking about Dune 2. Rest assured, those trailers are coming. In fact, I completed the video encodes of Trailer 1 tonight. I will try to get that out tomorrow, but I can’t guarantee it. I have a 4K widescreen version, as well as a 1080p IMAX version. At the moment, I do not yet have a 5.1 mix for trailer 2 – but I expect it soon. I am working on them, and they are on the way.

There is nothing like going to the beach on a nice summer day. The sea breeze, fancy drinks, ladies in bikinis, action, horror and Jason Statham! That’s right, Jason Statham returns as deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor in The Meg 2: The Trench (2023), also known as Meg 2: The Trench, the sequel to The Meg (2018). I added the usual 4K encodes with the official 5.1 audio. You can find them all the page for The Meg 2: The Trench (2023).
Last week, I also added trailer 2 for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) but I did not publicize it due to fears or if being mistaken for an illegal copy of the film being so close to the release date. But if you are looking for it, you can find it at that link. I did not have a 4K source, so it is 1080p only.
I just updated the Oppenheimer (2023)page with the third (and likely final) trailer. Like the first trailer, this one is in the 2.2:1 aspect ratio, but unlike the first trailer it is also available in 4K!
I recently heard that the IMAX window for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One (2023) has been reduced in favor of Oppenheimer, and Tom Cruise is not too pleased. I think it is great that we have film makers who are producing content that is meant to be seen on the biggest screen possible. But it is a shame that they have to compete for the same limited space.
In other news, I hear that Disney has moved out their entire release schedule and added a new Star Wars film. According to Variety, Avatar 5 will not arrive until December 19, 2031. Yeah, you read that right. The next two Avengers films have been pushed out a year having Avengers: The Kang Dynasty set for May 1, 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One (2023)I am still here. I have just been unusually busy with my day job, but things are starting to get back to normal. I have a few items to update you on.
As you may recall, this site used to have a collection of Dolby® trailers. Back in January/February the site was taken offline due to a cease and desist order from Dolby® claiming a trademark violation. As a result, all of these trailers, along with DTS®, IMAX® and THX® trailers were removed from the site. Please do not ask me for any of these as I will not share them with you. This seems to correspond to roughly a 10% reduction in page views. That is not so bad, but it also seems to have corresponded to a 70% reduction in ad revenue. It seems a bit weird, but perhaps traffic from more ad revenue generating regions were looking for those demo trailers. But overall, it looks like the region with the biggest drop was India – which is on the very low end of the ad market.
This is all to say that this site – and many others – rely on ad revenue to fund their operation. If you use an ad blocker, please whitelist this site and any others that you enjoy.
You may have noticed that the trailers for the Super Mario Bros.® movie, along with posts and references have been removed. This is because of a Digital Millennium Copyright Act notification that Universal sent Google Ad Sense. Getting a DMCA notice is nothing new, and I have counter claimed those successfully in the past. The issue was always related to the trailer being mistaken for a download of the actual movie. And those takedown notifications were always focused on search results, or the actual files themselves. This DMCA was directed to the Ad serving, which allowed the content to remain, but no ads to be served. This is hugely concerning. If this is they way that the copyright holders move forward, then there will be no ad revenue and likely no website unless another model can be worked out.
And lastly, Twitter has disallowed the API that I use to do a simultaneous posting to my Twitter account. As a result, I will be doing a manual posts going forward. Another thing to add to the list of things that take additional time.
Now, on to the main topic of the day! The second trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One (2023) has been added. And there are 4K and 1080p versions with the official 5.1 audio. There does not seem to be a lot of additional info, so I don’t think there are any real spoilers. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One will be in theaters on July 12. Coincidentally, it was one year ago today that I posted the first trailer, which you can also find at the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One (2023) page.
As promised, the Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) page has been updated to include the second trailer. It is available in 1920×804 with HEVC yuv444 10 bit video and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Dungeons and Dragons arrives in theaters March 31, 2023.

The third trailer for this week is trailer 1 for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023). Which is the sequel to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018). You can find the trailer for the first film at that link. I really liked the first one. I thought it was quite well done and the animation was really striking. The new trailer looks absolutely fantastic and you will not be disappointed with these encodes.

There was a time when Converse shoes were all the rage and nobody knew who Michael Jordan was. Air (2023) tells the story of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon) and how he brought Nike and Michael Jordan together in what would become one of the most successful brand partnerships in marketing history.
Amazon Studios in partnership with Warner Bros. and Skydance bring Air (2023) to theaters April 5. Air is directed by Ben Affleck and stars Matt Damon, Viola Davis, Ben Affleck, Chris Tucker and Jason Bateman.
I originally planned to have a 4K version of this trailer, but the 4K source was a 1.85:1 picture in a 2.39:1 container. The result is an image that is padded with black bars on the sides, and the actual image had a width of 3175 pixels. That is more like 3K. Since that would be weird, I scaled it to 1920×1038 which is a normal HD pixel size for a 1.85:1 aspect ratio trailer. Normally a 1.85:1 picture in 4K would be 3996×2160 for DCI or 3840×2076 non DCI.

Back in December 2021, I posted (and it may not be as good of quality as I am doing today) the trailer for https://thedigitaltheater.com/2021/12/28/operation-fortune-ruse-de-guerre-2022-trailer-1-lossless-1080p-dts-hd-ma-and-ac3-5-1/ which was due to be released in March 2022. Directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Jason Statham, it was moved to March 3, 2023, which is in two days! If you have not already checked out that trailer you should do so.
March 10 is right around the corner, and on March 10th the latest installment in the Scream series arrives in theaters. Set in New York city, the survivors of the Ghostface killings continue to try to survive further Ghostface killings. Although set in New York it was filmed in Montreal – where I will be travelling to this summer to see Metallica. Hopefully there will not be any Ghostface killings there.
As the titles suggest, I have uploaded trailers 1 and 2 to the Scream VI (2023) page featuring the official 5.1 audio and 10 bit HEVC encodes. Scream VI is released in two weeks.

I just updated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) page with the IMAX version of Trailer 2. It certainly has a different look, rather stark at times with contrasting vibrant colors. As indicated this is the IMAX version which is in a 1.89:1 aspect ratio. In addition to the 4K versions, I also encoded a couple 1080p HD versions for those who have trouble playing back 4K. Those are in the standard AVC codec.
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 arrives in theaters on May 5th, 2023.
In an effort to make things easier to find on the site, I have added a search box to the page header. Simply type in the name of the movie and you will get all the posts and pages that reference it. Give it a try.
I have added the International version of the first trailer for Fast X (2023) with 5.1 audio. You will notice that it is shorter than the one which dropped on February 10th but it still packs a lot of action. At the moment, I only have it in 1080p, but there may be a 4K in the future. I may also be getting the IMAX version soon as well.
