    Well, it is better than the 2.0 stereo mix.

    The only BUT I have is regarding the LFE channel. On my setting at home I only notice the subwoofer a litle bit.

      The LFE cause a lot of debate in my household. My wife felt that it was too distracting (ie, too low and too loud), and I totally disagreed. I went back to the soundtrack from the original Independence Day (1996) and listened to the LFE from the opening scene on the Moon. I think it could be a little louder as well. Thanks for the input.

        I also have kind-of-issues with the LFE… It almost sounds like two or more bass layers interfering – especially with the distorted bass sound of the music in the beginning of the trailer. I listen to it on headphones and the bass seems just pumped up a LOT. I’d say it is distracting indeed – it almost becomes unpleasant a few seconds in. When I stop or pause it, it’s like I just got out of a loud concert or club – it seems like the video was very loud although it isn’t really. It’s a bit weird and I don’t really know how to explain it.
        I compared it to the normal Stereo version and the effect is not that strong there.
        I extracted the single channels and tested a version without the LFE and the effect is still there… to a certain degree at least. Not as much as with the LFE, but still there.
        So maybe there’s just a bit too much low frequency audio on all of the channels, making the combined result a bit too heavy?
        …or maybe it’s just the music they used in the trailer. I really don’t know. :/

          My wife thanks you for agreeing with her 🙂
          It is interesting though, and something that I want to look into further. The source was 2.0 24 bit PCM, and the LFE was generated, but not in the way that I have created an LFE in the past for tracks that had split dialogue, music and effects. In those cases, I usually just take the low frequencies from the effects track, so as to not over load the LFE with low vocals or music. Bass management in the receiver and individual set up preferences can take care of that. In the case of IDR, the LFE was based upon the entire 2.0 track – and I am not totally sure what the high and low cutoff frequencies were. I will look into it further.

        But, in general, I think it’s a great idea to make those custom surround versions when there’s no official one available (hello, Suicide Squad Comic-Con teaser trailer)!

    At this time i would prefer the 2.0 version played with DDPLII. It sounds more natural for me. In my “loungecinema” the LFE chanel was to low and the high frequencies were a bit bothersome. Another point, the volume of the rear chanels was much to high, except of the voices i heard the sound almost entirely form the back. But the idea behind, as sad before, is absolutly great. What would i do to get a 5.1 mix of Mad Max Fury Road Comic Con teaser or Prometheus trailer 2?! And by the way, i take my hat off to you for creating this webside!

    Sounds like the right rear channel has static, or maxed out. Sounds bad.

    Other than that, sounds ok! But still not the quality of standard 5.1 releases.

    Firstly thank you for making the time for this site i really like having a proper trailers!
    I like what you are trying with these experimental mixes but it really does seem to have very different outcomes on different systems.
    (My notes below are about the Domestic Trailer D H.265 Experimental mix)
    Too me the centre channel i found to be a little too loud, i guess its all down to our initial set up and settings though.
    Another side note i streamed it fine from my macbook to ps4 via Plex with no issues so either they updated it to work with the H.265 codec or its system related.
