F1, for those who do not know stands for Formula One. And Formula One is the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile. I first watched this teaser back in the summer, but I did not have a 5.1 mix for the audio until now. I am really glad that I held off posting until a 5.1 track was available. I think that this is a bit of a rare trailer, where the 5.1 mix utilizes all the channels to place the sound effects in the sound space to correspond to the location of the objects on screen. It is really well done.

It reminds me of an IMAX film from the late 90’s called Super Speedway, which was insanely loud but featured amazing directionality. I have it somewhere on DVD, it won’t look too great now, but I think it will still sound fantastic. If your friends are questioning why you have a full speaker array instead of a soundbar – put this on and crank it up. They won’t question anymore.

F1 (2025) is directed by Joseph Kosinski who also directed a little film called Top Gun: Maverick (2022). Those combat shots from Maverick were so well done, and really, a F1 car is just a plane that has enough down force to keep it from flying.

The film stars Brad Pitt as a Formula One racer who comes out of retirement to mentor an F1 team. Kerry Condon (Better Call Saul) also stars as the engineer, or race strategist. Something technical, that is for sure. We also have Javier Bardem, who looks wealthy so I am guessing he is the team owner. Certainly has a Tony Stark vibe going on…although Tony raced his own car in Iron Man 2.

I am saying that it is Trailer 1, but it is actually considered a Teaser. Either way, you can download it at the F1 (2025) page.
